2026 Kitchen & bath Trends We Loved at KBIS

Each year the Kitchen & Bath Industry Show (KBIS) brings together designers, manufacturers, and innovators from around the world to showcase what's next in home design. Our team at The Design Loft in Towne Lake recently returned from the show, and we

re excited to share some of the biggest kitchen and bath trends shaping homes in 2026. From warmer materials to smarter layouts, this year's designs are all about personalization, comfort, and functionality.

  1. Warm, Natural Materials Are Leading the Way

One of the most noticeable shifts we saw at KBIS was the move toward natural materials and organic textures. Wood cabinetry especially white oak and warm-toned finishes are quickly becoming a favorite among designers. Natural stone like quartzite and marble-inspired surfaces are also gaining popularity for countertops and backsplashes. These materials create spaces that feel warm, inviting, and timeless, moving away from the ultra-modern "all white everything" look that dominated the past decade.

  2. Personalization Over Perfection

2026 design is all about making your kitchen and bathroom uniquely yours. Instead of perfectly matching finishes, designers are mixing materials, textures and colors to create layered, lived-in spaces.

  3. Statement Backsplashes and Surfaces

Backsplashes are becoming a major design feature instead of just a practical element. Designers are embracing full slab stone backsplashes, hand-craft tile, and dramatic veining to create visual impact. We also saw more designers extending the backsplash all the way to the ceiling, turning it into a focal point of the kitchen.

  1. Smart Storage and Multi-Functional Kitchens

Today's kitchen isn't just for cooking, it's the hub of the home. As a result, designers are creating layouts with dedicated zones and smarter storage solutions. Some of the most popular features include:

  1. Sustainability and Smarter Materials

Sustainability was a major theme throughout the show. Many manufacturers are introducing recycled materials and silica-free surfaces designed to be both beautiful and environmentally responsible. These innovations allow homeowners to make eco-conscious design choices without sacrificing style or durability.
